🌿 Welcome to Your Town Council Allotments

Where community thrives, and fresh produce is just a spade away.

Step into a world where the soil is yours to shape, the harvest is yours to enjoy, and the journey is shared with neighbours who love to grow. Our allotments—leased solely by the Town Council—offer more than just land. They’re gateways to self-sufficiency, wellness, and a vibrant gardening community rooted in tradition and care.

🌱 What Is a Town Council Allotment?

A Town Council allotment is a designated plot of land rented directly from your local authority. It’s your personal patch to cultivate fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers—with the added possibility of keeping hens or rabbits (with permission).

🌼 Why Choose a Council-Allotted Plot?

  • Local Stewardship: Managed exclusively by the Town Council, ensuring fair access, transparent practices, and community-focused support.
  • Green Living: Reduce your carbon footprint by growing your own seasonal, organic produce.
  • Wellbeing Boost: Gardening is proven to improve mental health, physical fitness, and life satisfaction.
  • Community Spirit: Share tips, swap seeds, and celebrate harvests with fellow growers.

📏 A Nod to Tradition

Plots are measured in rods—an age-old system dating back to Anglo-Saxon times. A standard allotment is 10 rods (250 square meters), about half the size of a doubles tennis court. It’s the perfect size to start your gardening adventure.

📝 How to Get Started

  • Apply: Fill out a simple form with your preferences.
  • Approval: The Town Council will allocate your plot based on availability.
  • Grow: Bring your tools, your seeds, and your enthusiasm—we’ll provide the soil and support.

🌍 Join the Movement

These allotments aren’t just about gardening—they’re about reclaiming connection: to nature, to neighbours, and to a slower, more intentional way of life.
